Playful Divine

I took a deep breath, relaxed,
and inside me called out, “ Amma, Amma, Amma,
Amma!” My eyes were open and I could see the light of
the sun filtering through the murky waters. Read

History
of this special day :The
earliest Mother's Day celebrations can be traced back to the
spring celebrations of ancient Greece in honor of Rhea, the
Mother of the Gods. During the 1600's, England celebrated
a day called "Mothering Sunday". Celebrated on the
4th Sunday of Lent (the 40 day period leading up to Easter*),
"Mothering Sunday" honored the mothers of England.
In
the United States Mother's Day was first suggested in 1872
by Julia Ward Howe (who wrote the words to the Battle hymn
of the Republic) as a day dedicated to peace. Ms. Howe held
organized Mother's Day meetings in Boston, Mass every year.

Man and God
Amma:
Man evolves into God. Every human being
is essentially God. Evolution from man to God is a slow process.
It requires a lot of cutting, polishing and remolding. It
needs a lot of work and requires immense patience. It cannot
be done in a hurry.
Revolution is fast, but it kills and destroys. Man is revolutionary;
God is evolutionary.

Universal
Motherhood Women's Retreat on May 6 to May
8, 2005 - The Universal Motherhood Women's Retreat
is a time to reflect more deeply on Amma's teachings as they
challenge us to evolve our own identity, communication patterns
and relationships with others. Through a facilitated sharing
circle, participants can have a time to directly relate with
other women, outside of the roles of the family and work environments.
It is a time to open up creatively and uplift our own development.
We will use a water and fire ceremony on Sunday morning to
support this process.
