Experience with Amma
By Swamini Krishnamritaprana

One night some years back at the end of Devi Bhava, Ramakrishnanda Swami came up to me and asked me if I still had my drivers license. I answered in the affirmative and he told me to quickly go and pack a few things as Amma was going away for awhile and wanted me to come with her.

It was in the early hours of the morning that we crept out of the Ashram and drove away in a car, Amma, Ramakrishnanda Swami, myself and another Swamini. I had no idea where we were going but it was wonderful to be on an adventure with Amma... Read more

Mother's Kitchen - in the west

Amma often says "Real devotion to God is to be compassionate towards the poor and the suffering. Feed those who are hungry, help the destitute, console those who are sad, give relief to those in pain, be charitable towards everyone. This is Mother's message to you."

Mother's Kitchen Project is active in 35 US cities, feeding the poor and homeless. Organized and supported entirely by Amma devotees, meals are being served in 20 states and Costa Rica. For more details of this project please visit our Mother's Kitchen page.

Gems to treasure
Amma's answer to the question "Where is the Self hidden"?

The question is like asking, "Where am I hidden?" You are not hidden anywhere. You are within you. Similarly, the Self is also within you and without.

From the seashore, it looks like the ocean and the horizon are meeting each other at one point. Suppose there is an island there, it appears that the trees are touching the sky. However, if we go there, do we see the meeting point? No, on the contrary, that point also moves away. Now it will be at another place. In reality where is the horizon? The horizon is right here where we stand isn't it? Likewise, that which you are searching for is right here. But as long as we are hypnotized by our body and mind, it will remain far away.
