Amrita TV To Go Live with Beehive Systems’s vid’link™ & vid’linkMOBILE™

New Delhi, India: Kerala-based Amrita TV, the new infotainment channel being launched by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, has signed a deal to buy Beehive Systems’s digital newsgathering solutions called vid’link™ and vid’linkMOBILE™ for live broadcast of their cultural and news-based programmes. The channel, which lays particular emphasis on culture and values, will go on-air in the second week of July using Beehive Systems’s products.

The vid’link newsgathering solution will link Amrita TV’s main studio in Trivandrum to other locations like Calicut, Cochin and Delhi. It will enable the channel to send live as well as store and forward video clips from other bureaus over leased line networks.

The laptop-based mobile newsgathering equipment, vid’link mobile™ will be
deployed at remote locations for store and forward video transfer over non-conventional mediums like ISDN, dial up internet connections, etc. The advanced codec used in vid’link mobile™ compresses the video almost 70% more efficiently than other compression standards without compromising on the quality. The cost of transferring the video from remote locations is almost negligible when compared to traditional mediums like VSAT, leased lines, etc.
