A disastrous earthquake of magnitude 8.0 struck the coast of Peru
on the 15th of August. About 500 people got killed and tens of thousands
were rendered homeless. In the areas surrounding Pisco and Ica cities,
many victims had to live on the streets waiting for help.
It is estimated that about 56,000 homes and 14 hospitals were completely
destroyed by the quake.
Among the greatest needs are toilets, clean water, and food to
avoid epidemics.
M.A.Center responded on time to this disaster by sending funds to
a non-profit organization called Quipunet . Moreover, M.A.Center
volunteers aided in the supply and distribution of essential items
like water, food etc to the victims.
About Quipunet:
Quipunet is a virtual, educational, non-profit organization, legally
incorporated in the state of Washington since November 22nd, 1995.
Mission : Channeling Education, Information, and Help.
Quipunet functions via its Work Groups. Each group takes on a project
of their own choice.
During this disaster Quipunet is working on the project
of one million breads for the victims. This is the second time they
are doing this.
