Alleviate the Pain and Suffering of the Masses
November 17, 2002 - The Honorable
President of India, Bharat Ratna Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam in an
inspiring speech reminded the students of Amrita Institutions that
Amma's life mission is to alleviate the pain and suffering of the
masses.
"You are all blessed because you are constantly showered with
the blessings of Amma. The ambience of her colleges is sufficient
to instill in you the values of life. " Dr. Kalam spoke these
words, he himself having derived inspiration from Amma's darshan.
The President was addressing the students and faculty members of
Amrita educational institutions at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences
College of Medicine, Kochi.
"Education in any field, medical, engineering or IT should
be value-based. Value-based education is the need of the day. Value
system together with economic strength will make us a prosperous
nation."
"Thinking is the capital and non-thinking is the destruction
of the country. If the youth can't ignite their minds, we will lose
the greatest wealth of the country. If you want to be successful
in life, you have to dream, sweat and persevere. However Amma's
success is divine."
"You should think why you want to become a doctor. The answer
is to remove the pain of people. That is Amma's life mission. And
her divine mission should be your inspiration to make right use
of life and add value to society."
