New Hope: Training and Jobs at AIMS

A natural disaster has swept away all you had--house, belongings,
money, and some family members.
You have survived. You have been helped with food and shelter.
But you have to start over.
|
Ultimately, you and your family will have to become self-sufficient.
In Kerala, there was a helping hand immediately. The M. A.
Math, a humanitarian organization which has long reached out
not only in Kerala but all over India, immediately stepped
forward. After participating in the first relief measures
(evacuation, temporary shelter, food, clothing, etc.), the
Math stayed involved, looking to the future. Ready to help
answer that question: How?

How can people who used to live (precariously in the best
of times) by fishing, whose boats are gone, whose harbors
are damaged, make a living now?
They have no experience, no training, no resources with
which to get these, and no connections.
No hope.
No hope until someone steps in and says: if you'll accept
the training, we'll give it, and we’ll hire you or help
you get a job elsewhere.
|
It's that simple. But that's what's needed.
