Nature

Amma says, " The life force that pulsates in the trees, plants and animals is the same life force that pulsates within us. The same life energy that gives us the power to speak and to sing is the power behind the song of the bird and the roar of the lion. A sincere seeker or a true believer cannot harm nature because he or she sees nature as God. He doesn't experience nature as separate from himself. He the real lover of nature. The Earth, trees, plants and animals are all manifestations of God. We should love them as we love our own self."

GreenFriends is an organization established by M.A. Math for the preservation and protection of the environment. This program inspires love for nature and reinforces the truth that mankind is not different from nature. When we care for Mother Nature, She will also protect us in return.

GreenFriends regularly engages in tree planting and the maintenance of plants. Its members also practice eco-meditation, a method or re-establishing the vitally important harmony between nature and humanity.

Through the Amrita Vanam (Amrita Forests) Project, GreenFriends members undertake large-scale afforestation projects in conjunction with State Forestry Departments.

Every November, GreenFriends distributes and plants 100,000 saplings in the state of Kerala. GreenFriends also aims to restore the lost tradition of the Kerala manor garden: comprising a grove, a pond, and a shrine. More than just a period architectural piece, the ancestral gardens accorded nature a sacred dimension and safeguarded the ecosystem and bio-diversity.
