A Letter from Derek

A report from Aikya Param - Coordinator, Circle of Love Inside

I've been sending 2 Awaken, Children books out each month to 6 or 7 of our inmates who let us know they'd like them. When Amma was here recently I bought them all a photograph of her and had her bless them. I wrote each of the inmates a letter telling that the photograph had been especially blessed for them.

So far, Derek from a prison in New York State, replied..

"The relationships I’ve made through Circle of Love Inside have been very very good for me. I’ve been blessed with extraordinary people who are all loving, caring, unselfish, educated, humble, intricate, and beautiful people, all in their right. The experiences have been uplifting and life changing. Most have become indispensible companions and mentors. So I truly am a recipient of the most beneficial of all gifts, love. I thank you dearly and, above all else, I must thank Ammachi. It is through her that everything is made possible.

I have learned to express and explore my inner person in much greater detail and I’m on a path of renewed character. For my main objective has been to change the direction and source of my thinking, most importantly the negative aspects. I have achieved much in such a short time.

And thank you for sending me Amma’s Awaken, Children books. Yes, I have been receiving them (so far, volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4). They are a great source of inspiration and a mirror into Mother’s soul, an excellent way to hear her speak and absorb her wisdom, especially for us who are unable to have direct contact or to attend any events where Mother is present.

The picture you forwarded was very well received and appreciated. It is the only real photo I have of Mother."

It really helps, once in a while, to get a letter like this, to see that it's all worth it, that it really does make a difference.
