Immortal Bliss Magazine
Immortal Bliss is a publication dedicated to spreading Amma's teachings
and publicizing the worldwide activities of the M.A. Math. Amma
asked the devotees in her ashram in California to start a quarterly
journal, as a way for us to keep close to her during the long months
of physical separation between tours. Launched in 1988, the magazine
has a loyal and growing readership, especially in the West.
A typical issue contains a message from Amma, articles by her disciples,
devotees' experiences, beautiful pictures of Amma and her travels,
stories from or interpretations of scriptural texts, poems, and
reports of activities from various western centers. There are also
news updates about Amma’s various charitable projects.
You will love going to the mailbox every three months and finding
the treasure of your latest copy waiting for you. Enjoy!

Subscribers say it best!
One of my favorite sections in Immortal Bliss is the new serialized
version of Bhagavathi Katha, translated for the first time in English.
I remember when Swamiji used to read from the new transcripts –
fresh from the translator – in the evening, offering his own
commentary. Its scent is of ancient India. —LK, Nevada City,

the sweet devotion that comes so easily in Mother’s presence,
settling in with one of her journals takes me back to the beginning
of my relationship with her, and I can relive the newness of yearning
for God. —MLF, Chicago, IL

Excerpts from Previous Immortal Bliss Magazine
(Excerpt from Mother’s Message
4’Th Quarter 2002)
“We may not be able to radically change the world. However,
we can certainly bring about change within ourselves. Is it not
from individuals that society is formed and government is born?
That is why the individual mind must first be purified. There is
no way to change the nature of the world other than this.”
The mind is like a street. When we walk across a street, we will
see various sights around us. Brawls may occur on either side. Ahead,
there may be a circus show in progress. We may encounter roadside
stalls and hawkers. There will also be many fairs. The traveler
will walk towards his or her goal, unmindful of all these, because
he or she is not out to see them. The destination is elsewhere.
In a similar way, numerous thoughts will arise in the mind. But
we are not here to identify with those thoughts, and thus get stuck.
We have to go forward. If we stop to pull apart those who are fighting
we will also get entangled in the fight. Let the thoughts go their
way. There is no need to give importance to them. Let us move forward.
Our goal is something else. There is no need to fret over the fact
that we can only see dirt if we look in the mind. Does not the lotus
emerge from dirt? Therefore proceed with your Sadhana (Spiritual
practices) without thinking about the impurities of the mind. Take
care that there is no break in your japa (repetition of mantra).
If we are able to do so we are certainly drawing nearer to the goal.
