Gratefully from Themba

Dear beloved brothers and sisters and darling children of Amma,

I deeply thank the members of the Chicago satsang and all others for your participation in the project " Innocent Desire." I am grateful to all of you for your willingness of your hearts to participate in giving Amma's less fortunate children, what I consider the greatest gift bestowed upon humanity - Amma's love.

Eleven women who have suffered tremendously on the streets of Chicago were able to escape from the misery of their lives for atleast one day, when they came to see Amma and receive your warmth and hospitality.

The " Innocent desire" project, supports Sister House program, which houses and tends to the homeless and destitute. These women came to this program as depressed, homeless and some even came out of prison. I have never seen so many people so incredibly grateful after receiving Amma's love and hug....they could not stop saying thankyou. I felt that they could express their love and gratitude more warmly and calmly to us than they ever did. It is said that Amma's hug awakens our own innate true nature - pure love. I saw it happen in these women who were once written off as hopeless, criminals, prostitutes, junkies, outcast etc.

Amma gave darshan to all of the eleven women with individual attention and warmth. She sent them with a candy and an apple. The women came out peaceful and in tears - some melting their sorrows in that experience of love and some with sheer joy of having found " love". I am sure these sisters of mine will carry this valuable experience to the others living in the ghettos of Chicago. After their darshan was over, Amma told me something that made me leap for joy- that she would like to build homes for her homeless children in North America..this is the second time that Amma spoke spotaneously to me about this. It may have something to do with my fervent prayers for the less fortunate ones... like I was once upon a time, though not anymore after seeing and experiencing the warmth of true unconditional love. My desire to help the other less fortunate people made Amma smile at me with appreciation, her only expectation from her children - Love and Serve all of humanity.

- Themba Kelly
